It depends on the sandbar, but the south swell makes for a powerful break.
Regular and goofy breaks with good shape are popular. When it is big, beginners should be careful of the strong shore break. Because of the depth, it is difficult to break at high tide, so aim for the rising tide from the low tide.
Be aware that many salmon fishermen visit here in early fall. If coming to Shiraoi for a surf trip, visit the Ainu Museum and enjoy sightseeing.
