The main surf points are the mouth of the river and the beaches to the south. Yuriage beach receives a wide range of swell from south to east and offers mellow fun waves for beginners to enjoy.
Near the mouth of the river, the swell is more northerly and the conditions are better, especially during low tide.

Be careful when entering the mouth of the river, as many surfers cut their feet stepping on the shells on the vanishing wave blocks.
The area around the front vanishing wave block reduces some of the direct wind from the north.
